Town Clerk’s Office

The duties of the Town Clerk’s office are quite diverse. This office provides many different services to the Town and its residents. As always the Town Clerk’s Office is happy to assist with any needs you may have as well as direct inquires to the appropriate departments.

 

Dog Licenses All dogs over the age of Four months must be licensed. Proof of spaying/neutering and current rabies vaccination is required. Fees are $7 for spayed/neutered and $14 for unsprayed/un-neutered dogs. License must be renewed annually. Notices will be sent from the Clerk’s Office. **The Rensselaer County Department of Health sponsors rabies clinics each year. The Brunswick Community Center will be hosting on January 5th, May 9th and September 7th. Cats are done from 5pm-6pm. Dogs are from 6pm-7pm. DEC Licenses Fishing licenses are $25 and good for a whole calendar year from purchase date. Hunting Licenses go on sale in August. Must have a prior license or Hunter Education Certificate to obtain.

Accessibility Permits Hang tags are issued at this office for Residents of Brunswick only. Must have a doctor signed DMV Form (MV-644.1) and show Driver’s License. dmv.ny.gov/forms/mv6641.pdf

Peddling Permit Must show Driver’s License and complete application form. There is a fee of $50 per week. (Peddling Permit)

Certificate of Residency To obtain a Certificate of Residency to attend an area college, the applicant must show proof of NYS residency for a minimum of one year and Rensselaer County residency for six months. Form, residency proof and photo ID must be brought to the office by applicant or parent to be signed. (Residency Form)

NYS Voter Registration Obtain form to register to vote in NYS, change name or address, enroll in a political party or change your enrollment. Interested in becoming a Poll Inspector? Please give the office a call. New Inspectors are always needed. http://www.elections.ny.gov

Registrar of Vital Statistics The Town Clerk is responsible for keeping a permanent record of all births and deaths that occur within the Town. Copies of Marriage Licenses issued in the town are also kept on file. These records are not subject to the provisions of the Freedom of Information Law and their confidentiality is protected by the New York State Public Health Law. Certain criteria must be met in order to obtain copies. Certified Copies are $10 each. (Birth Request) (Marriage Request) (Death Request) To obtain a Marriage License both parties must be present with Birth Certificates, Photo ID’s and documentation proving any prior marriage(s) ended. The fee is $40.

Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) All FOIL requests are administered through the Town Clerk’s office. This office is responsible for overseeing, storing and retrieving all permanent Town records. Requests may be submitted in person, by mail, fax or email. (FOIL request Form)

Town Beach Passes New passes will be available starting in February for 2017-2018 park access. Proof of residency as well as vehicle registration must be shown to obtain pass.
